Ramblings...
Although it may seem that the real estate
market is just as slow as last year, all you have to do is
look at the figures on the back page and you’ll see that
twice as many homes have sold in the first quarter of 2010
as last year’s. I am hopeful that this is an early indication of a
healthy season. Short sales and foreclosure sales are not good for
our economy as they reveal a soft spot in our health. When our
neighbors are in trouble, we all feel it. We cannot rely on the outside
economy to make us better.
And too much reliance on tourism is not a good thing either. We, as
individuals, need to make sure that we are taking care of ourselves,
health-wise, emotionally, spiritually, before we are able to take good
care of others. As a community we need to make sure we are taking
care of our infrastructure (roads, parks, schools, hospitals) but our
museums, our non-profit groups and churches make our communities
pulse with energy and demonstrate that we are not islands.
Births and deaths and basketball games tie us together. I’m glad I
live in the Mission Valley and that there are people who will continue
to work to improve the condition of our communities, despite a lack
of money or popularity or past failures. I’m not quite sure what
prompted this soap box but thanks for reading it.

September 2009
My latest newsletter lays out the first half of the year's Multiple Listing Service data showing numbers of properties currently active or sold by price category. You can see that all is not rosy - however, it is a good time to buy. Rates continue to be low and there is more selection from which to choose. Buildings are being built in Polson (CSKT health center for one) and folks are still moving here. I have been privileged to work with Polson's new city manager, Todd Crossett, and I am encouraged about the city's future under his dynamic management.
Ramblings…..
Sometime in the spring 2009: What a mild winter. It's hard to convince potential newcomers that this was unusual. The last few winters have seemed like pussycats compared to a few of the past. Do I sound like an “old timer?” An undisputed fact is that this is the finest place to live, young or old. If you know people who want to move here, buy their first home …...or their last, let me help them. The agency has now been open for ten years. Hard to believe we’ve been helping folks find their dream for that long. It’s been a hoot!
